| MetaTheatre Company was born out of the intensive work created at Anthony Meindl's Actor's Workshop. The first public performances of work at the workshop were presented in January of 2001. That first two-night workshop format was such a huge success that larger productions were created in June 2001 and January 2002 that included more than 35 actors in each show and ran for four consecutive weeks to sold-out houses.
The work was primarily focused on presenting new contemporary pieces in highly original, imaginative and theatrical settings involving live musicians, multi-media and audience participation. By 2003, due to audience demand, the company was ready to tackle a full-length production. Our inaugural production, Dogs Barking, premiered to rave reviews and sold out houses for a three-month run.
