Actors will receive a self-tape homework assignment, which they can upload for evaluation. Amber will offer live feedback and re-directions over Zoom, simulating a realistic callback session. This invaluable opportunity for practice and refinement will further enhance actors’ audition skills.
Amber Horn:
Amber Horn is an Emmy Award winning casting director, who knows how to engage with actors to bring out their best work in auditions.
Amber, a seasoned casting director, will generously share her invaluable insights into the elements that captivate her attention when assessing self-tapes. With her expertise, actors can expect to gain a profound understanding of the audition process and cultivate powerful connections.
Amber will skillfully deconstruct her fundamental concepts, equipping actors with the necessary tools to establish compelling connections during their auditions. Delving into breakdowns, headshots, self-tapes, and callbacks, she will provide a comprehensive understanding of her actual process. This knowledge is especially valuable in today’s evolving audition landscape, which has been significantly influenced by the pandemic.
Amber Horn and her casting partner, Danielle Aufiero, immediately made a splash in the entertainment industry when they opened the doors to Aufiero / Horn Casting over ten years ago. Their longstanding relationships with studios, production companies, and directors have allowed them to cast for a variety of projects.
With over 75 feature films, television pilots and series collectively; the pair have earned multiple award nominations and recently won a 2021 Emmy Award for casting The Healing Powers of Dude, and they also won a 2020 Artios Award for their casting work on Disney Channel’s Andi Mack.
Other notable projects Aufiero / Horn have cast include On My Block (Netflix), The 100 (The CW), The Baby-Sitters Club (Netflix), Motherland: Fort Salem (Freeform), 13 Reasons Why (S4, Netflix), and Awkward (MTV), among many others.
Powerhouse companies such as Amazon, Netflix, ABC, Disney+, Disney Channel, Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, MTV, The CW, and Freeform have entrusted the expertise and the outside of the box mentality that Aufiero / Horn have to offer when it comes to casting their projects and bringing the characters to life. Frances Brennand Roper:
AMAW Mastery Teacher
Teaching Traditional AMAW Scene Study and Directing the Industry Showcase for these talented teens.
Frances has been a part of the AMAW family since 2013 and is immensely proud to be part of a community which shapes artists into human beings who are capable of changing the world! Frances has a BA (Honors) Degree in English and Philosophy from Nottingham University and a MFA in Acting from City of London University. She has performed all over the U.K, NYC, and LA working with many theater and film companies.
Her theater credits include Love and Human Remains, at Playwrights Horizons in NYC, Cast Aside at Alan Ayckbourn’s Stephen Joseph Theater which was selected for the NSDF festival, in Scarborough, Colder than Here at the Nottingham New theatre, and productions of original plays at Circle X theater, The Blank, and The Hudson Guild here in Los Angeles as well as three sucessful consecutive years performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to name a few…. In Film and TV, Frances starred in the pilot Herotica, with Pete Hewitt (Bill and Ted) as well as the TV show We Were Tomorrow set to be released in 2024. She also stars in the award winning film Scars, and The Pharm on Amazon. As well as producing, developing TV shows and Movies in the US and in the U.K
Alongside acting, writing and producing Frances has experience in Casting, having worked with such casting directors as Emmy Award Winning CD Ross Meyerson (Nurse Jackie, The Affair, Limitless) Emmy Award Nominee Jamie Castro and CSA 2021 winner Mia Cusumano – (The Leftovers, Annie, Ramy and The Trial of the Chicago 7.).
Daniel Vazquez Jones:
Middle school theater teacher from Saint Martin of Tours for 11 years.
Groundlings 1,2,3 and writing Lab, musical theater, performer two national tours, assistant for a huge commercial agency, focusing on the success of youth.
AMAW alumni since 2017.
Teaching:
Physical, warm-ups stretching arms, legs, etc. opening up chest.
Vocal, warm-ups tongue twisters, moving our face mouths etc.
