Here is your opportunity to become an

AWARD–WINNING FILM-MAKER (or at least have a 1-minute film in your portfolio.)What is POrtal 5-1?
It is a 1–minute single-shot (iPhone or equivalent) film competition for AMAW students past and present. (Single shot because there will be no need for software to edit)
When is it happening?
POrtal will open at midnight (GMT) on the 1st of the 5th month (Thursday, 1st of May)! This is when the theme will be announced.
What are the rules?

- You will have just 5 days to create your film. Deadline: Monday, 5th of May @ midnight (GMT).
- 1-minute single-shot!
- 5 pounds/dollars must also be raised and spent on your film (your budget), which you must raise following a meeting or a conversation with someone you haven’t met yet! (The reason for this is to encourage you to go outside of your comfort zone and ask people for financial support – a necessary tool as a filmmaker).
Who is judging?
The competition will be judged by filmmaker/actor Adam Robertson (Third Star, River City, Lockerbie)
Trophy for the Winner! No entry fee or prize money. Your film, with your permission, can be used to promote future events.

Lastly, WHY?!!
We can wait for the perfect storm where we get to create something or act in something. “If I had this in place first…(an agent, my photos, my showreel, etc…etc..whatever excuse you give yourself not to go for it) then I’ll be ready!” This is just 5 days of your time where you get to make, direct or act and have something to show for it.
The competition is for AMAW students past and present and is a celebration of creativity and also how little we actually need to make something. Anything. It does not need to be perfect if perfect is your thing or permission! The invite is simply just to try.
